Stash Report - Week 16, 2012

I am still doing pretty good on my stash busting. This week I only purchased 1 1/2 yards of a beautiful Valorie Wells large print. I used up 3 1/2 yards. 1 1/2 yards was used on my challenge quilt for Bayside Quilters so I can not show you a picture yet. I used 2 1/4  yards (the Amy Butler prints I bought last week) on an Amy Butler pattern of a large pillow. I did not yet take a picture because I did not get it finished. The reason it is not finished is because I ran out of poly-fil. I got more at Wal Mart today.

Maybe I will finish it later after the Penguin's game. It was a marathon first period because of all of the fights. We recorded it because we were at Wal Mart when it started. My daughter just said she is glad she has it recorded because if she is not feeling well some day she can turn this on and watch the fights and it will cheer her up. She is a true hockey fan!

Used this Week: 3 1/2 yard
Used year to Date: 55 3/4 yards
Added this Week: 1 1/2 yards
Added Year to Date: 24 1/2 yards

I cut a little bit of fabric this week but I am not counting it yet.

Stash Report - Week 12, 2012

I did do some quilting this week on customer quilts but I have nothing to add to my stash report. The most exciting great thing about that is that I did not purchase any fabric at the Lancaster Quilt Show. Although, that does not mean that I did not but anything. As soon as I take some pictures I will show you what I got.

Stash Report - Week 11, 2012

Yes, I broke down and bought some fabric for my stash. I am planning on starting a Rhapsody Quilt and I think this will be great for that.

This past weekend my husband and I flew to Ohio to visit our son that just moved out. We went house hunting with him. He is presently in corporate housing for the first month. I think we all decided that it would be best for him to rent for about 6 months and become more familiar with the area.

Anyway, while we were there I spotted a quit shop, Lonestar Quilting . I just can't help myself. When I go into a quilt shop I have to purchase something. I am doing really good so far this year with my stash busting so I added 4 1/2 yards to my stash.

This week I only used about 1/2 yard for some blocks for a project that my Retreat Bee is doing for Bayside Quilters. Unfortunately I forgot to take a picture before I handed them in for the project.

Used this Week: 1/2 yard
Used year to Date: 51 3/4 yards
Added this Week: 4 1/2 yards
Added Year to Date: 18 3/4 yards

Net Used for 2012: 33 yards

I am moving right along in using up my stash. This week I used fabric for 2 backs, 2 bindings, more white Kona where I had made a mistake, and I gave away 1 1/4 yards to someone at retreat.

Used year to Date: 43 7/8 yards
Added this Week: 0 yards
Added Year to Date: 14 1/4 yards

Net Used for 2012: 29 5/8 yards

So far this year the stash busting is moving right along. To maintain this pace all I need to do is stay out of the quilt shops. But I love going to quilt shops almost as much as I love fabric!

The fabric used this week was what I cut out yesterday for the "New Wave Quilt" pattern. I used 4 yards for the wedges and 1 3/4 yards of white. I will be  working on this at retreat and hope to get it done on Monday.

My 50th Birthday Quilt using the pattern "Mod Medallions" is ready to be quilted. I finished the top on Friday night and  I also got the back put together. The fabric that I used this week was for the back. The center of the back is fabric that guests signed at my birthday party last year. I also put the extra blocks on the back.

Stash Report - Week 4, 2012

The fabric that I used and purchased this week was for these 2 quilts. Well, most of the fabric I purchased was for these quilts. I have been trying to stay away from buying fabric without a specific purpose in mind. I went to JoAnn's because I needed White Kona. I bought 6 1/2 yards of white but I also bought 2 yards of Gray Kona. Don't ask me what I am going to use that for yet. I had to buy so much white because I could not find what I had at home. Of course after I bought it I did find mine. It was in with another one of my WIPs. I still did need to get more because I would not have had enough. Now I do have some extra white on hand

This week I used 4 yards of white for my Joseph's Coat. For my Mod Medallions I used 3 1/4 yards of white and 3 1/4 yards of prints.

Used this Week: 10.5 yards
Used year to Date: 14.0 yards
Added this Week: 8.5 yards
Added Year to Date: 8.5 yards

Stash Report - Week 1, 2012

It is the beginning of the new year and we are a back to all zeros for the stash report. Last year I started out a little slow when it came to stash busting. Through out the year I purchased almost 110 yards of fabrics. I finally pulled it off and came out in the black with a net of 36.75 yards of fabric used for the year. I can't deny that I like to buy fabric. So, my goal for 2012 is to do better stash busting than I did in 2011. This week everything remains at zero; nothing in and nothing out.

Stash Report, Week 52, 2011

It is hard to believe that this is the last stash report of the year.
I am very glad I participated in Judy's stash reports this year.
I has been very interesting to see how much fabric I have actually used and purchased. The good thing is that I did use more than I bought this year!

This week I used 4 yards for the back and binding of this quilt.

Stash Report, Week 45, 2011

I added 12.5 yards to my stash this week, and I had a lot of fun doing it.

If you read my previous post, you know I was at Quiltique near Las Vegas. I guess it was a good thing my husband was with me because I easily could have gotten more. I love these fabrics. Wonder what I will do with them.

Quiltique

Today I did some real damage to my stash report. Yes, again. It is all because I went with my husband on a business trip to Las Vegas.

See, last year I went with him on this same trip. It was my first time to Las Vegas. When we were flying out last year to come home I met a quilter in the airport. I had a total hip replacement some years back and I have to go through the scanner and wait to be cleared when I fly.

I happened to have on a pair of socks from the The Twisted Stitcher that have quilt designs on them. The security lady standing with me waiting to clear me to go ahead saw my socks and asked me if I was a quilter.

We had a conversation until the next person came through the scanner. She told me there was a great quilt shop near by.

So, before heading out on the trip this year I found that quilt shop online.
The quilt shop I visited today is Quiltique in Henderson.

WOW!
I think I can honestly say that is the best quilt shop I have ever been to.

Quilters have got to be the best group of people on this earth. I met my Christian sister in the longarm room.

The lady that cut my fabric was originally from Pennsylvania close to where I grew up.

It really is a small world.

They have a classroom that is to die for. Maybe if we do this same trip next year I can take a class.

And I got to see Swoon live and in person. (the quilt on the left) I have been thinking about ordering that pattern and when I saw it for real that clinched the deal. I will be ordering that after I get home.
