Sea Glass

On Friday I taught a workshop for this Sea Glass Quilt. 

The pattern is Sea Glass by Talk of the Town and can be found here on Etsy. 

When I made my quilt I wanted a quicker way to cut out all of the petals. So I decided to try it with this Leaves Galore Template Ruler by Sue Pelland. 

 I had used this template before to make "Orange Fusion."

I was going to link back to where I posted about this quilt, but it looks like I never posted about it. 

I made this for a Challenge in my guild, Bayside Quilters, in 2016.

Anyway, I had used that template before and I thought it would be perfect to use for the Sea Glass Quilt. That was just what I needed. For my sample quilt below, I had all of the petals cut out in about an hour. I then glued the petals to the background using Elmer's School Glue. I stitched around the petals as I quilted it on the longarm. It was a very easy and quick quilt and it is stunning. 

For the workshop on Friday, all of the students got their petals cut out and glued on to the background. Every one of them looks spectacular!

Free Motion Class #2

Here are the results of our second Free Motion Quilting Class.

The class will be offered again in May and June.

The first one is the class sample.

The students did a great job and everyone learned something.

Two More Elephants

Previously I posted about the Elephant Quilts some of the 7-Sisters were making. 

Here are two more.

This is Barbara's. I love how she put something in for the eye. The pattern just left it empty with background fabric. I think it has more life with the eye filled in.

This is Chris' elephant. She also put something in for the eye. I love it. Her elephant is not yet quilted.

Here is mine again. I am going to have to go back and put something in for the eye.

This is Earleen's.

Baby Elephant Walk

 Last week seven of the Seven Sisters Quilt Guild decided to make this Elephant quilt. I love how they are looking and could not wait to share them. So here are three of them so far. 

Earleen is the first one to finish. 

She used yellow and pink Batiks and it is absolutely beautiful!

She quilted it on her midarm.

Mine is almost done. It just needs to be bound.

I used 21 different pinks all from the shop.

I quilted mine on the longarm before applying the pinks.

Lou is well on her way. She is using all blues from the shop.

Lou is sewing on her blues first and will have it quilted afterward.

Chris, Cheryl, Barbara, and Margaret are also making one.

The pattern for this quilt is in the book "Scrap Happy Quilting."

Snowman Class

We had our first class today at Quilt Vine. It was this adorable little snowman.

Taking this class was a great way to break from Holiday activities and spend the day sewing with friends.

Everyone brought a potluck dish to share at lunch and everything was so yummy.

The snowmen all turned out great and some of the ladies learned some new techniques.

I am really excited now to get our classes up and running in 2013.

Every day is a great day that you can spend with the ladies sewing.

And I really enjoy teaching classes.

Plus, that snowman is so darn cute!
