Jean's Quilt

This is Jean's quilt..

I finished it today. Right after I took it off of the longarm my electric went out. Luckily it was only off about and hour and a half.

Love that black, white and yellow.

Clove

My 13 year-old daughter is a collector! She has several collections but I think my favorite one is her collection of clove tins. You might ask why would a teenager collect clove tins. She has  a black cat named Clove. One time when her and I were out antiqueing (I think it was summer 2009) I noticed one of these. When I showed it to her she had a fit. Since then our eyes are always on the lookout for cloves. She took this picture because my parents were here for a visit this past weekend. They are retired and love to shop, especially when they have something to look for. I think my daughter might be getting some clove tins for Christmas.

Now, back to quilting. Here are 2 quilts that I quilted this week. They both belong to Linda.

Young Life Golf Tournament

The battery of the cart died while the kids were serving the golfers.

My husband and I are on the local Young Life Committee. Friday we put on our First Annual Golf Classic. We were both on the golf subcommittee and he was the chair. The past few weeks he has been consumed with preparations. Well, it was a huge success and I am so glad to have it behind us. We were fortunate that the kids had a half day of school on Friday so some of them were able to help out.

Round Robin Bee

On Thursday the Round Robin Bee got together for the first time. We each created a center block.
Me and my center block.

We met to show each other our block and to pass it on.

 Mary Lou

We now have 2 months to add the next border.

 Marlene

We will have a total of 4 borders each done by someone else.

 Alice

At the end we will get the one back with our own center block.

 Esther

It was up to each one of us whether we wanted to send along fabric to be used.

 Lou

The first border to be added is to have triangles.

 Peggy

The next border will have squares or rectangles.

 Sylvia

The next border will have applique'.

 Margie

And the final border will have points.

Donna

We are scheduled to have them completed in June.

Look What I Saw

I finished up the last one of Lucille's quilts yesterday.

Look what I saw! I actually caught my daughter sitting at the table doing homework. For some odd reason she never seems to have much homework. She told me she was scared because she was enjoying doing her Algebra II work. (She says she doesn't like math.)

Customer's Quilt

I can't believe I actually finished up a quilt today. I spent a good part of the day running around with my husband doing stuff for the Young Life Golf Tournament on Friday. This is Lucille's quilt. I love those fabrics.

Falling Leaves

On Wednesday of last week I hosted the Art Bee at my house. When our Art Bee meets we usually like to do a little project or demonstration. Since it is September we did a leaf block.

Here is what we did:
Went out in the woods and got some leaves.
Put them on the printer and made a copy.

Traced around the outline and made copies on paper and freezer paper.

Cut out freezer paper shapes.
Iron onto black fabric.

Spray with a solution of bleach and water.

Remove freezer paper and rinse.

Trace the reverse of the leaf shapes onto paper backed fusible web.

Iron onto back of fabric and cut out leaves.
Iron onto block for a shadow effect.

There were 7 of us here that did this. Why didn't I think to get out my camera when they were all here????

Circle Quilts

My top I put together today.

I just got home from a very busy day of quilting. The 7-Sisters Quilt Guild sewed all day working on circle quilts. They all look so great! I did not get a picture of everyone's progress. Some of the girls had to leave at lunch time and I forgot to get a picture of what they had done. Maybe I will remember to get a picture next Friday. It is really fun to see how different some of the quilts look. I think each one is fabulous.

Each one of us cut out our circles using my Accuquilt GO.

Kari's quilt

Lou's quilt

Earleen's quilt

Gerry's quilt

Polly's so far. Polly arrived after lunch.

Patti arrived late and left early.

When I got home George and Blue were sound asleep.

Christmas Quilt

With not working on the rental yesterday I actually got a lot done at home. I even did some quilting. I finished this Christmas Quilt made by Lucille. She really does some beautiful work. I also did one quilt with a pantagram, but I do not take pictures of the pantagrams.

Customer's Quilt

This is Margaret O's quilt. Finally it seems like life is getting back to normal. I am working on customer's quilts again. But, I still have a major project underway that I need to finish asap.

My husband and I own a small house that we rent out. Right now we are between renters and I am doing a lot of work on it. This is taking longer than I thought it would. I am priming and painting every room (ceiling, walls and trim) and refinishing all of the wood floors. I have the stain on the floors and will soon be starting the urethane finish. I am done painting the living room and the 2 bedrooms and only have the bathroom and kitchen to paint. I took before pictures so I will post pictures when I am finished. Today I will not be working on the house because I am waiting for the stain to dry completely.
