Wyldlife Camp

I am back. My husband and I spent 5 days as adult guests at Wyldlife Camp at Lake Champion in New York. Wyldlife is Young Life for middle-schoolers. Yes, that is right; we spent 5 days with 564 kids ages 12 -14. Our daughter was a camper. We had 14 kids and 2 leaders from our area go. Everyone had a great time. Young Life has a very unique and powerful way of presenting the Gospel to kids.

Black, White and Red

Margie needed this quilt today before she leaves for vacation. I got up at 4:45am so I could finish it and still have time today to make salsa.

I made a total of 26 and  half pints of salsa. All of the peppers and tomatoes came from my husband's garden. Last year was the first time I made salsa. Everyone loved it. My oldest son put in a request for 10 pints. I finished up the salsa about 3:00 and jumped in the shower. As soon as I get this posted I will have time to prepare for Vacation Bible School tonight. I am teaching the 1st and 2nd graders. This is the first time I have taught little kids since 2004 when I started working with youth.

Yesterday we had Art Bee at Margie's house. I just had to take some pictures of her flowers.

Baby Quilt

This must have been a busy year for some of my friends. I know 3 couples having babies this year. Three in one year; that hasn't happened with people I know in quite a long time. Therefore it is time to make baby quilts. I have one completely finished. The shower is tomorrow. It is a string quilt. I got the idea to make a string quilt from the String Thing Challenge. The baby is going to be a girl.

Outreach Sew-In

Yesterday at the Bayside Quilt Guild we had our annual sew-in. Every year Bayside provides hundreds of items to those in need. A variety of items are made; quilts, pillowcases, walkers bags, and pillows. I am sure I must be missing something.

New Kitten

The other day when I posted this quilt I had a couple requests for the pattern. It is also the same quilt in my header. The pattern is from McCall's Quilting Magazine August 2009.

This is Sherry's quilt. It is made with fabrics she got in France. She wanted the Fleur De Li in the sashing. The best way I could come up with doing them was freehand. I am happy with how it turned out.

My oldest son got a kitten to keep him company in his new house. He named him Mongo after a character from the movie "Blazing Saddles." Isn't he adorable?

.Today is Bayside Quilt Guild. It is our annual sew-in for outreach. My daughter will be going along. She will be able to earn service learning hours for school.

Has It Really Been That Long

It has been over a week since I last posted. I really haven't been doing much quilting. I have been spending a lot of time cleaning stuff out of my work area. I did get this quilt done last week. Yes it is another Field of Flowers. It is Chris' quilt and it is the third Field of Flowers she has done so far. When I had this one hanging to take the picture my daughter walked in. She stopped in her tracks and exclaimed, "Whoa! Whose quilt is that?"

Over the July 4th Holiday we had family visiting. My niece and nephew flew in from Washington State to visit my parents. They all got to spend a few days here. We also had other family come in too.

Picking Beans

Yesterday morning my 13 year old daughter got up at 7am (the day before she slept to 11:30) to go out in the garden to pick green beans.

I did finish quilting a quilt yesterday and started another. I will take a picture later today. I also spent a good part of the day cleaning out stuff in my work area. I now have all of my quilting stuff in the garage because that is where my longarm is. My work table was a ping pong table. That table belonged to my son and we took it to his new  house when he moved on Saturday. Since I need to get a new work table I thought it would be the perfect time to get better organized.
