Show-N-Tell at the Shop

Yesterday we had Show-n-Tell at the Shop.

Everyone who participated was put in to a drawing for a $25 Gift Certificate.

Barbara was the Lucky Winner of that Gift Certificate!

Barbara C. showed a little heart that she made from a kit from Quilt Vine.

 Linda showed a table runner she just finished that she started about 10 years ago.

 Mary showed a comfort quilt she made with yard sale fabrics and her mother's buttons.

 Nancy's Starburst Quilt she made in a class at Quilt Vine.

This was made using a Kaffe Fassett Jelly Roll.

 Tammy made this "Bricks" quilt in a class at Quilt Vine.

 She made this quilt from the leftovers.

 

 Tammy is working on one more quilt from those leftovers.

This block was made using a "Trash to Treasure Pineapple Quilt Ruler" by Gyleen Fitzgerald.

 Cheri showed a quilt she made from fabrics she got at Quilt Vine.

 Caroline showed this beautiful blue and white quilt.

 Lou showed a quilt she made at retreat.

It is a Pat Sloan pattern using Pat Sloan fabric.

Lou finished this quilt at retreat. It is French General fabric by Moda.

Trash to Treasure Pineapple Class

I took the "Trash to Treasure Pineapple Quilts" class with 

Gyleen Fitzgerald on Thursday.

Above is a picture of what I had to start with. 

This block uses a lot of 1 1/2 inch strips. 

The Jane Sassaman print will be my border. I chose the blue to go with the border print.

 On this first block I made, I used the solid in the even numbered rounds. I did not like it because I thought there was just too much of the blue.

 On the next blocks I made I put the blue in the odd numbered rounds. This looks much better.

Following are the pictures of what everyone else got done in class. If I had posted this on Thursday or Friday I might have remembered who made which blocks. Now I am lucky if I remember who made half of them. So as to not let anyone out, I will not label which blocks were made by whom.

Trash to Treasure Pineapple

Last  week Gyleen Fitzgerald came to Bayside Quilters.

On Wednesday her program was on her new book, 

"Quilts: Unfinished Stories with New Endings."

It was a fabulous program and of course I had to get the book.

On Thursday Gyleen taught a class on her 

"Trash to Treasure Pineapple Quilts."

What a great class and a great way to use up your scraps. This is the 3rd time Gyleen has been to Bayside. I love taking her classes. She is a fabulous and dynamic teacher!

March UFO

Quilting UFO for March is finished. I was up at 5:00 this morning and got it done.This is a Dresden Plate that I started in a class by Gyleen Fitzgerald in the Spring of 2008. I chose to lay mine out differently from her pattern. I had decided to take the class at my guild the day before. All of the fabric was chosen from my stash. In the background of each of the 4 blocks I quilted a different filler. I really like how this quilt turned out.
