On the Other Side

My daughter and I left the Eastern Shore today and ventured over to the other side of the Chesapeake Bay. We had our own mini shop hop. Our first stop was Seminal Sampler in Catonsville, Maryland. There I purchased 1 1/2 yards of this fabric. I think it is a Valorie Wells print.

Our next stop was in Savage, Maryland at And Sew It Goes. Unfortunately this shop is going out of business. Most of the products that are left are 40 - 50% off. 

Our final stop on our little shop hop was at Cotton Seed Glory in Annapolis, Maryland. I bought these two patterns there. I was so excited to find this Maryland applique block. I started my personal Baltimore Album in 2006. I still have 2 blocks to make. I have lived in 2 different states in my life; Pennsylvania and Maryland. I have been wanting to make blocks for those states. I thought I was going to have to design my own. This pattern will be perfect for my Maryland block. Apparently this designer, Pearl Pereira , is going to do all of the states. I can't wait until she does Pennsylvania.

After our little shop hop we went to the mall and we each bought a pair of shoes. Then we went to eat at the fabulous Cheesecake Factory! What a great day!

Quiltique

Today I did some real damage to my stash report. Yes, again. It is all because I went with my husband on a business trip to Las Vegas. 

See, last year I went with him on this same trip. It was my first time to Las Vegas. When we were flying out last year to come home I met a quilter in the airport. I had a total hip replacement some years back and I have to go through the scanner and wait to be cleared when I fly. 

I happened to have on a pair of socks from the The Twisted Stitcher that have quilt designs on them. The security lady standing with me waiting to clear me to go ahead saw my socks and asked me if I was a quilter.

 We had a conversation until the next person came through the scanner. She told me there was a great quilt shop near by. 

So, before heading out on the trip this year I found that quilt shop online.  

The quilt shop I visited today is Quiltique in Henderson. 

WOW! 

I think I can honestly say that is the best quilt shop I have ever been to.

Quilters have got to be the best group of people on this earth. I met my Christian sister in the longarm room.  

The lady that cut my fabric was originally from Pennsylvania close to where I grew up.

 It really is a small world.

They have a classroom that is to die for. Maybe if we do this same trip next year I can take a class.

And I got to see Swoon live and in person. (the quilt on the left) I have been thinking about ordering that pattern and when I saw it for real that clinched the deal. I will be ordering that after I get home.

Serendipity

I was a very bad girl today. I went fabric shopping again. After all cotton fabric is going up. It was my first time at a shop that I absolutely LOVE! The shop is Serendipity in Dagsboro, DE. It really isn't that far; about 1 hour and 15 minutes away.

Our first stop was upstairs with all of the sale fabric. I was able to find some great fabric upstairs.

Margaret found a few things upstairs too. Chris went with us but she would not let me take her picture.

Counting up all of my sale items plus regular priced fabric I averaged just under $6 per yard. Just about as good as going to Lancaster but a lot closer.

You are not going to believe this but I intended to purchase some blue fabric. As you can see I was drawn to my favorites; orange and green and a little brown.

Aren't they all positively beautiful?

This really isn't going to look good on my Stash Report tomorrow.

I Got A New Sewing Machine

I had a little difficulty deciding which one to get.

Cheryl and I are home from Dover and we both came home with a new machine. We went to 2 different places and looked at 2 different brands, Husqvarna Viking and Janome. We went back and forth between the two places trying to make up our minds. Cheryl was looking for an embroidery machine she could also piece with and I was looking for a machine that would make machine applique' easier. When it was all over and done with we both got a Janome.  Mine is a new machine that has only been out a few months. I can't wait to use it, but that will not be until after we get our son moved into his new house.

Dave brought the first tomato in from the garden today and I ate it. Yum Yum!

Shopping for a new machine

Son #1 is buying his first house and today is settlement. It has been a lot of fun helping him to look for a house. I know it will be even more fun helping him to decorate it. Saturday we will be helping him to move in.

Cheryl and I are going to Dover today to look for a new sewing machine. I will let you know if I find anything. I also ordered an AccuQuilt Go a few days ago. It is on backorder and will probably be about a month before I get it. I guess I am a little slow jumping on the bandwagon. It looks like everyone else in blog land is already having fun with theirs.
