Getting Ready for Christmas

 I will be teaching this adorable snowman wall hanging this Saturday. 

The kit for this snowman is included in the price of the class and we will be having a potluck lunch. It promises to be a great day for all.

We have started getting the shop ready for Christmas.

I love decorating for the holidays!

 On December 8th Quilt Vine will be having a Christmas Open House.

We will have demos and snacks throughout the day.

We have Gift Cards; the perfect gift for your quilting friends. 

We are also offering Sit and Sew Days. Need a break from all of the hustle and bustle of the season? Come spend the day sewing with us at Quilt Vine.

 Don't forget the Snowman class is this Saturday.

First Shop Sample

When Chris was not helping at the shop this week she was working on this sample. We have this entire fabric line and I think we will be making up kits. Hopefully I will get it quilted soon.

Inventory Has Started To Arrive

Everything appears to be on schedule for the opening of Quilt Vine in September.

Last week, notions, books and patterns were delivered. Opening all of those boxes was like being a kid on Christmas morning.

 Quilt Vine Team Members, Chris and Faith had fun finding a home for all of the notions.

There is still so much to get done. I get anxious thinking about opening day, September 6. I hope we will be ready!

We Moved the Longarm

My son was home this week for vacation. I thought that while he was home it would be the perfect time to move the longarm to the shop. My husband, son, and I took it apart and moved it.

Good thing my husband has a pick up truck and a 12 foot trailer. On Wednesday, yes on July 4th, we took the longarm apart and moved some of it to the shop.

On Thursday we moved the rest of it and put it back together. It was a good thing we moved it when my son was home; I don't think we could have done it without him. It is always nice to have an engineer to help put something back together.

At home my longarm was in the garage. I am so excited to be out of the garage and into this beautiful sunny room.

Before and after moving the longarm there was plenty of time to swim.

Huck is not too sure about the pool.

Huck is a lab so he does need to learn to swim.

Huck does not want to let go.

As soon as he can, Huck heads right back to the steps.

Toasting Quilt Vine

 Last night some of the 7-Sisters celebrated Quilt Vine. Even though the shop will not be opened until September the classrooms are ready to go. 7-Sisters started quilting there on Friday nights instead of at the fire house. My daughter is very excited about the shop and will be helping there.

We had great food to go with our champagne.

 I managed to pop the champagne without making a mess.

 Chris got the first glass that was poured. She will be working with me and has be extremely helpful with ordering fabric.

How do you like that expensive stemware? It was leftover from my daughter's birthday party.

Thanking my close friends. I could not be doing this without them.

Quilt Vine Is Progressing

I have been spending a lot of time at the shop these days. The check out/cutting table is being built.

Shelves are going up everywhere!

These shelves will hold a lot of fabric.

My parents came to visit over Memorial Day and helped a lot at the shop.

My husband and dad put a lot of shelves together.

My daughter and mom cleaned out the kitchen cabinets and put in shelf liner.

They also sanded and painted furniture.

This piece will go in the bathroom to hold extra paper towels and toilet paper.

On Tuesday while my daughter was in school, my mom and I painted the table and chairs for the kitchen.

I got the table and chairs on the sun porch from the ReStore. I think this will be the coffee area; way too many windows for fabric.

This is my office in one of the upstairs rooms. I also got the desk at the ReStore.

Of course there was time to have some fun. My daughter loves to scare her Nana. She did surprise her when she was hiding in this box.

If everything goes as planned, Quilt Vine will be open for business in early September.
