Suzann's Modern Quilt

I don't know about you, but I am really getting into this Modern Quilt Movement, so when Suzann brought me this quilt top I was very excited.

This presented a challenge to me. I had a Modern Quilt Top so now it needed Modern Quilting.

While riding in the car to one of my daughter's away lacrosse games I searched Pinterest for Modern Quilting.

When I came across this quilt that was quilted by Angela Walters, I knew immediately I would try that on Suzann's quilt.
Before going right to the quilt I practiced drawing it on paper.

I am so happy with how it turned out and so is Suzann.

Kate's Silk Circle Quilt

I am so glad that I had the opportunity to quilt this beautiful quilt.

This is Kate's entry in the upcoming Bayside Quilters of the Eastern Shore Quilt Show.

The circles are all made from Dupioni Silk.

Kate told me to do my thing.

It was a bit challenging to come up with the quilting that would highlight this awesome top without taking away from the fabrics.

I am pleased with the result and Kate was thrilled.

Flight North Class

We held a class on Friday called "Flight North." This is a simple pattern that is beginner friendly. In the allotted class time everyone got the top together except for the final border. Since we are open until 7 pm on Fridays, two of the ladies stayed and finished theirs.

Linda's is almost done. All of her fabrics were purchased at Quilt Vine and it features Moda fabric from the line "Boho."

Marianne and her friend, Susan, stayed to finished their quilt tops. Marianne loves taking classes here. She travels from the other side of the Bay Bridge to take classes in Trappe. I do love her butterflies even if she didn't get that fabric here.

Susan came along with Marianne. She has only made a table runner before, so this is her first quilt. Isn't that something; her first quilt top made in a day.

Marianne brought this problem quilt with her. She was having trouble with the exploding volcano in the center. I took it apart with my handy new seam ripper (which I will share in another post), did some trimming, and put it back together. Marianne was thrilled.

We still have more classes coming up in May and June. Click on the link to the right to see what we have to offer.

Make A Bag

Yesterday was the class "Make A Bag." This class was taught by Cheryl. Making bags is not something I have really done much of or typically care to do, so I took this class.Wow, Cheryl did a great job teaching this class. She shared with us techniques that she has developed and made this bag very easy to complete. I think I see more bag making in my future.

 Linda's bag.

 Barbara's bag.

 Candy's bag (mine).

 Cheryl's bag.

 Me with my fabulous bag!

 Linda with her awesome bag!

 Barbara with her magnificent bag!

Don't all of these bags look great on the shop counter?
If you missed this class, then you missed a great one.
Cheryl will be doing more bag classes in our future!

I almost forgot to mention that all of the fabrics in all of the bags was purchased at Quilt Vine.

Did I mention that I love my bag?

During class Lou was there busy sewing away for the shop.
She was working on a sample using one of our new Christmas line of fabrics.
You may have noticed the quilt on the design wall to the right in some of the above pictures.

New Fabrics and a Sample

This fabric, Seaside Village, came in two weeks ago. I got right to work on the sample. Great fabric for us here living so close to the shore. We have made up kits for this quilt.

These fabulous batiks came in last week.

Hooty Hoot came in earlier this week. We will be working on a sample using this fabric.

Shades of Black came in yesterday. I love every one. Who doesn't love black and white? I especially love the grays.

Last week we got a few more gorgeous polka-dots to add to our collection.

Edith's Quilt

Edith came into the shop back in November with some blocks she had made as a Block Of The Month at another shop. She was having some trouble with them and could not get help at that shop. I helped her with them and she brought the top back in for me to quilt.

I do not have a computer on my quilting machine and I do most of my quilting freehand. Sometimes to make registration lines I use this stencil and a muslin pounce filled with cornstarch.

The lines helped me to evenly space these loopys and swirls in the sashing and border.

This is a sampler quilt and each block is different so the quilting is different in each block.

Edith has not seen it yet and I think she will be very pleased.

Kitty's Quilt

This is Kitty's quilt.

She made these blocks in a Bernina class.

In this class she used many of the different stitches on her machine.

It was a lot of fun quilting this quilt for her.

This quilt will be on display at the Bayside Quilters Quilt Show at the end of the month.

Great quilt Kitty!
